Pole Detection System - PDS

The base of the visual defects detection system, the Pole Detection System is designed to detect the presence of cantilevers, aiding in general localization and the triggering and synchronising the Transversal Defects Detection System.

Laser telemeters detect the presence of objects over the vehicle and measure their distance from the roof. Comparing the data continuously acquired, the system is able to select the cantilevers with respect to other infrastructure devices and, taking into account the vehicle speed, provides the trigger to Transversal Detector when the cantilever arrives in the middle point of the vehicle.
