
MERMEC Unattended Geometry Measurement System (UGMS) is designed to be fitted on service trains, which give track managers and engineers access to frequent track geometry data.
UGMS architecture is comprised of a trainborne measurement unit typically installed on the bogie, a central data center to collect and process the critical information from the measurement system and a wireless communication link for data transmission between the measurement unit and the data center.
The trainborne measurement unit provides the optical box, inertial platform, computing unit and localization technology required to provide accurate track measurements. Moreover it employs radio communication modules for data transmission to data center as well as for remote diagnostics.

Using the latest no-contact optical technology, the chord-based TGS measures track geometric parameters at speed of up to 320 km/h (200 mph). TGS allows real-time track geometry analysis and release of exception reports. Chord-based TGS is fully compliant with international standard EN-13848.

Inertial-based TGS, branded Laserail™, is a non-contact track measuring system with GPS navigation and Dual Optical Measurement Boxes to measure, record and analyse the track geometry. The system, that is fully compliant with the EN-13848 international standard, offers highly accurate measurements at speeds of up to 360 km/h (244 mph) with real time report of exceptions.

Contact TGS, branded RAILCONTROL™, is a mechanical measuring system allowing low speed contact-based evaluation of track geometry parameters. The system can be installed on any railway vehicles even if it has been specifically designed for tamping machines application and is certified for Plasser and Matisa seamless integration.
