The MERMEC Group is committed to Six Sigma, a business-management process used by corporations worldwide to increase efficiency and capacity and reduce waste. We use Six Sigma not only to improve manufacturing processes, but also to improve finance, accounting, marketing, procurement and other business processes.
Our online global project tracking system enables us to centrally capture, track, measure and report all aspects of our Six Sigma-based projects, as well as other cost-savings initiatives. Project leaders use the system to follow the status of all of their projects at all times and ensure completion of all deliverables. More than XX employees have been trained in Six Sigma and more than XX have been trained in Lean Manufacturing techniques, which are focused on reducing waste.
The Lean Enterprise System is a comprehensive work process that results in the reduction of waste, both in time and materials; increases in plant capacity and equipment effectiveness; and reductions in defects. Lean principles apply to all parts of an organization. The Lean System also focuses on tapping the ingenuity and creativity of the MERMEC Group employees, who use Lean tools to improve company processes.
In Lean terms, "waste" has wide applications, including:
- Overproduction
- Waiting – workers or product waiting to be processed
- Transportation – moving materials among locations
- Over-processing – due to poor tool or product design
- Movement – unnecessary movements by workers
- Defects – scrap or rework
A Lean project might typically involve mapping a process, reviewing the map and determining what steps can be eliminated or improved in order to accomplish the process more efficiently. Our Lean projects are all focused on meeting our customers’ needs as effectively as possible.
